Introducing this week’s topic – Norouz (spelled many different ways) or often also referred to as the Persian New Year.
For those of you that are new to this – Norouz celebrations span about 13 days, starting from the Wednesday prior to the Spring Equinox with a fire jumping event called ‘Charshanbe Soori’, the Haft-sin table (depicted below) and ending with park picnic ‘Sizdah Bedar’ where the greens on the Haft-sin are sent on their merry way in body of flowing water. Each event and the Haft-sin carry symbolic meanings to welcome the New Year. Please read/watch on for more information.
A heartfelt Happy Norouz to all that celebrate!
